Registered Social Landlords
The new requirement for EPCs on leased property has generated a significant amount of work in the social housing sector.
We believe that we are in an extremely strong position to offer Registered Social Landlords the manpower and administrative competence to implement this new government legislation in a speedy and cost effective fashion on housing stock right across the country.
Our status as one of only a handful of Government approved accreditation bodies places us at the heart of the decision making and implementation process. Quidos regularly participates in the CLG committee meetings that provide advice on the strategic implementation of the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive.
Each EPC will last for 10 years unless substantial works are carried out during this time which are likely to improve a property's rating, for example if a new boiler was fitted or if double glazing was installed. Quidos provides RSLs with a long term solution, factoring in significant discounts for renewal work and bulk ordering. In short, we will work with an RSL to calculate the best way to implement this legislation across their housing stock, maximising efficiencies and minimising cost.
To reduce the disruption to many tenants we may be able to offer a sampling/cloning option, available in areas where there are a large number of properties of a similar size and style (e.g. large blocks of apartments or estates).
This method would also attract a significantly discounted fee structure.
Don't just take our word for it though, on September 5th 2008, Quidos was awarded the contract to supply the Hanover Housing Association with EPCs on their nationwide propery portfolio. Hanover were impressed with our professional approach and extensive knowledge in the field, and have agreed a multi-year deal which reflects the economies of scale which Quidos can offer Social Landlords.
