What is Retrofit?

Retrofit or retrofitting, is essentially upgrading housing to a standard which it did not have when it was first built (i.e. improved insulation or ventilation). The aim is for this to be done through ambitious whole house projects where the people involved are competent and monitored throughout.

PAS 2035:2019, the framework which defines how the process should be completed and sets out the individual roles and requirements needed for a project to be successful.

Sponsored by Government Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, it covers how to identify improvements, designing and specifying Energy Efficiency Measures using a ‘whole house approach’.

Whilst being Governed by TrustMark, it is important Accreditation Schemes are able to represent their members interests. Quidos are actively representing their members through PEPA and the retrofit working group.
