APEL Accreditation

It is possible to become accredited as an energy assessor via one of two routes:

  • Qualification
  • Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)

Qualification route

For details on the qualification route please see our range of training courses HERE.

The APEL route to accreditation allows candidates direct access to accreditation without the need to complete a Government-approved energy assessor qualification. To be eligible for the APEL route, candidates must demonstrate they have met all of the performance criteria, knowledge and understanding set out in the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the strand of energy assessment they are applying for. If these requirements are not met upon time of application, then they candidate may be required to undertake further top-up training in order to achieve this.

Once accepted onto the APEL route, the candidate will be required to complete a minimum of 3 reports which will be marked and feedback provided.

Upon successful completion of these reports, the candidate will then be invited to obtain accreditation with Quidos.
