The way we measure the energy performance of new homes is changing. The Home Energy Model (HEM) is set to replace the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) under the Government’s Future Homes Standard (FHS) – marking one of the most significant shifts in domestic energy assessment in recent years.

This live session will be chaired by Billy Say, Quidos Scheme Manager, and will feature expert insight from Chris Barrington, Quidos CTO, and David Jones, Quidos Energy Calculation Lead – bringing together accreditation, technical, and policy perspectives in one practical discussion.
What will the roundtable cover?
During this 90-minute online session, attendees will gain a practical understanding of:
- Why HEM is being introduced and how it will replace SAP
- The policy drivers behind the change under the Future Homes Standard
- The benefits of the new HEM methodology
- Key compliance and data input changes
- The planned 18-month dual-running period for SAP 10.3 and HEM
- Updates on validation, documentation, conventions and software integration
- What the transition means for assessors and professionals working in new build
There will also be a live Q&A session, allowing attendees to ask targeted questions about the transition and how to prepare effectively.
All participants will receive 1.5 hours of CPD for attending.
